An enormous Kindgra emerged from the lake..

Everlyn watched dumbly a few yards away from the group of Pokemon, and after a moment became aware enough to grab the other pokeball she had, releasing her Flaafy, so far unnamed. "Flaafy, use thundershock," she directed, pointing to the Kingdra. The Flaafy willingly complied, sending an arc of lightning to the water Pokemon.

The lightning did nothing to the Kingdra except annoy it. It turned towards them and blasted them with a Hydro Pump.

Quietly swearing to herself, the teen was blown a few feet away, the lighter Flaafy about twice as far. She stumbled to her feet, backing away. "Muse!" she called to the fire type, gaining his attention. Now she figured she should begin paying attention to type weaknesses and such... and it just occurred to her that she knew none of them. "...Run," she said, motioning for him to follow her away from the lake. Kingdras couldn't chase somone on land, right? Hopefully...

The Kingdra called something loudly. <HALT!>

The girl slowed, stopping after a moment to look back at the Kindgra after Muse and the Flaafy stopped. She sighed, turning and watching, unable to understand what the Pokemon said, but perhaps she may be able to tell... after a while. At least they were a fair distance away - not that she could get any wetter then she was now.

" Running away, now are we? Ah, such a coward. I don't blame you though. I mean, I am much more powerful than you. Now, have you learned your lesson? It isn't safe for you to venture near this lake. "
The Kingdra spoke to Everlyn in its language, but one didn't have to know Pokemon speech to realize that the Pokemon was speaking in a mockingful tone. The large Pokemon eyed the female and her Pokemon darkly, enjoying their fear. Without a doubt, it felt very powerful in this situation.
Geeze, how could you go near the lake with that Kingdra keenly guarding it?

She blinked, nodding her head a bit numbly - finding it a bit odd this particular pokemon could speak. "I - well... yes," she replied after a moment, after she was able to find her voice once more. "It may help if I was more experienced, yes. Maybe I'll actually bother to learn the whole type advantage deal now..."

" Mhmm, you better do that. Now, scram! You rookie humans can be so annoying sometimes, mindlessly wiping out the Pokemon that populate this lake! " The Kingdra grumbled, then dipped back down into the lake. Hmm, strange. It seemed everything went back to normal after the Kingdra returned to the depths of the lake. Was it still safe to wander near the water's edge though? It seemed as though that Kingdra would reappear if you came near again...

Everlyn remained still for a moment, sighing heavily and shaking her head. Weren't electric attacks strong against water? She could have sworn that was right - it made sense, at any rate. If that was true, this particular pokemon must be rather strong to resist an attack it'd normally be weak against. She sighed, watching Muse walk a few steps closer to the lake again, looking to see if the Mudkip was still there...

Surely enough, the Mudkip was still standing there, looking fretfully at the lake, and where the Kingdra once was. It twisted its head back when it heard Muse approach it, then it turned its whole body to face the Cyndaquil.
The expression on its face explained that the Pokemon was terrified by the Kingdra's appearence. A Pokemon like that Kingdra wasn't supposed to be in those waters amongst all the young and weak Pokemon that lived there. So, why was it there then?
" Oh wow... that's scary. That Kingdra appeared in there recently, and no one really knows how it came either... "
The Mudkip whispered to Muse, glancing around in a paranoid manner. It seemed as though the Mudkip was ready for anything to leap out of the bushes and ambush them.

Muse looked at the lake, and briefly back at his trainer and her Flaafy - he didn't know her too well yet. <Do you... want to come with us?> he ventured, cautiously shifting his weight on his feet as he stole another look at the lake. <We might come back here sometime... probably not until we're strong enough to face that... whatever that was.>

The Mudkip looked thoughtful for a moment. After a couple of minutes it spoke... <On one condition. Do you have a carrot?>

<A... carrot?> he repeated, briefly looking back at his trainer. He didn't think she'd have one. <I don't think I do...>

<Well you need to get me a carrot. Ok?> said the Mudkip. Well it must really want a carrot...
