April stopped near the three bird statues, gazing up at them in awe. She had heard of the shrines, but until now, she had never before seen any of them. Perched on her shoulder, Flame stared at the statues and shuddered. 'Legendary pokemon...' she thought, not sure whether meeting one would be a good experience, or a bad one.
April walked up to the foot of the shrines, setting down a small basket of berries, as a gift to the legendary pokemon.
Flame hopped down from April's shoulder, setting down her own gift-a few little flowers she had found on the way there.
April released her other pokemon, who had also found some small gifts. Stream set down a few polished round pebbles, Bubble placed a small crystal, and Ponyta set down a mouthfull of grass. April sighed, knowing the legendaries wouldn't appreciate Ponyta's little 'gift'.
"Oh well," she thought, "I guess it's the thought that counts. Now, what to wish for...a pokemon?" She sat thinking, wondering what it was she really wanted. She thought of some of the pokemon she loved, Houndour, Umbreon, Mightyena, Espeon, Heracross, Vulpix...but she didn't really think asking for a certain one would be the best thing. "Maybe I should ask for any pokemon..." she thought, "It would be a surprize...but there's no guarantee I'll get anything...so..."
"Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres," she said aloud, "I've come to ask you for...well actually, whatever you choose to give..." She sat looking at the statues, awaiting an answer.

Please be more specific... said a voice that came out of nowhere.

"More specific?" April thought, "Oh great...how did I not see that coming..." "Well," she said out loud, "I think I'd like...a pokemon..."
"Yeah!" Ponyta shouted in poke-talk, "I want a new friend to play with!"
"Quiet," whispered April, stepping in front of Ponyta to await the legendary pokemon's answer.

Well which type? Do you want me to give you a Magikarp? said the voice. It soudned annoyed.

"A magikarp..." thought April, becoming a bit annoyed herself, though she didn't show it. "All right," she said, "How about a...dark type!"
"Dark type?" Ponyta said, looking at Flame, "Aren't dark types scary?"
"Uh...I don't think so," Flame answered.
"You're just scared of everything," Bubble muttered, not letting Ponyta hear.
Stream was ignoring the others, looking around for the source of the voice, as if he expected to see legendary birds flying around somewhere.

Ok... said the voice, fading away.
A pokeball appeared at her feet.

((I keep thinking Stream's a girl for some reason. O.O))
Stream walked forward cautously, toward the pokeball. Before he reached it, Ponyta galloped past him, picking it up in his mouth. He then happily trotted over to April, the pokeball in his mouth. April took it from him, and replied, "Thank you," to the legendaries, before pressing the button on the pokeball, releasing whatever was inside...

A Houndour appeared out of the ball. It stared up at her with her little puppy eyes.

April smiled at the houndour, seeing it staring at her in that way. "You...you're adorable!" April cried, reaching down to pet the dark pokemon.
"I don't see what's so adorable about it. It's just a houndour," Bubble muttered to Ponyta, who was standing right beside him.
"I wish I got a prize!" Ponyta sniffed, "I want a houndour too!"
"You're a pokemon..." Flame muttered.
Stream glanced at the houndour, thinking it looked a little scary, but April seemed to think it was the cutest thing in the world. "My trainer sure is wierd..." Stream muttered, watching her petting the houndour.
