After leaving the cave, April had come to...Yellowstone Valley, where apparently all the pokemon in the area were yellow. She had returned all her pokemon, but was really hoping to give Flame some training. She was only level nine, and though April had three rare candies, she decided to wait before using them. Bubble was only level eight, and Petal only level five, but she was too young to battle anyway.
April hoped that Flame would be less timid if she evolved into a quilava, and so she made a promise to herself that she would give Flame some training here. However, she also wanted to see how her new Scyther did in battle...

A Drowzee walked by, dancing.

Seeing the Drowzee doing a strange dance nearby, April decided to give it a battle. Taking out her pokeball, she called, "Go Scyther!" as she threw it in front of the dancing pokemon. Scyther appeared, but he seemed to have no idea where he was, or what he was supposed to be doing. "Scyther!" cried April, "Are you ready for a battle?" When Scyther gave her a puzzled expression, she said, "Use slash on that Drowzee!" Scyther, however, wasn't listening, and just lay down on the ground, as if he wanted to take a nap.

The Drowzee was sent flying into a tree. It landed on its head. It turned to the Scyther, its lips trembling. Its eyes filled with tears.

((How did it get sent flying? O.o))
Scyther looked up, as if noticing Drowsee for the first time. With a friendly smile, he walked over to the smaller pokemon, before sitting down right in front of it. "Whatcha cryin' for?" he asked.
April decided to leave the pokemon alone for a little bit, and just chose to sit back and watch them. She had already begun to get an idea that her scyther was different in some way; she had once helped take care of two injured scythers at the center near her home, and she had spent enough time around them to know how scythers acted. And this one didn't act anything like those two.

(I think Kris thought that your Scyther attacked it with that Slash attack. ^^; )
The Drowzee tensed up as the Scyther approached it, trying to pressed itself against the tree. When the Scyther took a seat before it, the Pokemon covered its eyes with one arm, and held its other paw out in front of it, as if telling April's Pokemon to go away.
Maybe the Drowzee assumed that this Scyther was like all stereotypical ones of that species. Well, whatever the reason, the Drowzee appeared to be intimidated by April's Pokemon...

April just watched the two pokemon, wondering why Scyther seemed so interested in this strange pokemon. By the way he acted, April assumed he was curious, and wanted to know what in the world the strange yellow thing was.
Scyther stood up, walking closer to Drowzee. "What are you so scared of..." he began, then suddenly seemed fearful, looking around in a panic, and added in a whisper, "Is there a...a predator around?"

The Drowzee took several steps back as Scyther came near him. He didn't answer.

Seeing Drowsee's terror made Scyther uneasy. Looking around in all directions, he walked even closer to the Drowsee. "I can't scent anything," he said, "There must be something nearby, we should hide, up in that tree!" he said, pointing, waiting for the Drowsee to do something.

The Drowzee continued backing up and had a scared look on his face.

"What are you so scared about?" Scyther asked, walking even closer.
April, watching Scyther, gave him a strange look. "There's something strange about that pokemon," she thought, by the way he seemed so clueless about why Drowzee seemed so afraid.
"Come on," Scyther said, "Say something! What's wrong? Do you even know how to talk?"

The Drowzee shook its head no, and continued to back up.

April watched the two pokemon, annoyed by how Drowzee didn't respond to Scyther. Sighing, she continued to watch...
Annoyed, Scyther crept even closer, saying, "You can't talk? How wierd is that! I knew how to talk even when I was a baby sentret!"
